The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is investigating a fatal collision that occurred last night involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in the 1400 block of Chamberlayne Avenue.
On Friday, December 2, at approximately 9:27 p.m., officers were called to the 1400 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for the report of a person struck. Officers arrived and located an adult female who had been struck by a vehicle lying in the northbound travel lane. She was unresponsive and pronounced dead on scene. Later the victim was identified as 64-year old Nancy Johnson.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
A driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. However, a second vehicle is believed to have been involved and detectives are asking for the community’s help to provide additional information.
